Assistant Professor, Behavioral and Community Health Sciences
Behavioral and Community Health Sciences
I direct the MPH program in the department and have secondary/adjunct appointments in Pitt's School of Nursing, Department of Anthropology and GSPIA. I am an affiliated faculty in the University's Center for Latin American Studies and Global Studies Center. Though I am not currently conducting research, my primary interests are in socio-cultural aspects of human sexuality and reproductive decision-making. I teach a number of courses: Social and Behavioral Sciences in Public Health (school-wide core course), Introduction to Community Health (departmental core course), Seminar in Family Planning, Seminar in Maternal and Child Health and Public Health Approaches to Women's Health and Introduction to Population Problems (all BCHS electives), as well as a 7-week skills-based course in focus groups. I currently co-chair the University's Community Relations Committee and the School's Educational Policy and Curriculum Committee.
